Dear City of Thousand Oaks Colleagues,
I am excited to announce that City of Thousand Oaks is partnering with the American Heart Association to take a stand against cardiovascular disease and stroke, the number one and number five killers of all Americans. We are creating a City of Thousand Oaks team to take part in Ventura County Heart Walk on October 21st at the Ventura Harbor.
We have set our sights high and are striving to raise $5,000. To get there, our team is seeking 100 enthusiastic employees to sign up as walkers to help us put our best foot forward. I hope that every City of Thousand Oaks department will be represented on our team. The 3-mile walk is child, stroller, and dog friendly so please bring your friends and family along with you to enjoy a morning of getting healthy together. There is no cost to participate in the walk, but I hope our walkers will give their best effort to help raise lifesaving funds for the AHA.
If you are interested in joining a team, please let Sharon Chen in Human Resources know, and visit the Heart Walk Website www.venturaheartwalk.org. Click “Register for the Heart Walk” to sign up for the City of Thousand Oaks team. I hope to have all of our walkers registered by October 14th.
This is a fun and rewarding experience and an opportunity to help in the fight against heart disease and stroke.
