Introducing Live Chess Tutoring!Live Chess Tutoring

Do you want to improve your cognitive skills? Perhaps you are looking for a new pastime? Brainfuse now offers live chess tutoring and resources from expert chess players. All you need is an internet connection, computer or mobile device, and your library card. Live Chess Tutoring (under Featured Service) is available from Monday – Thursday, 3:00 pm to 8:59 pm (PST).

FREE Live online tutoring for all learners

Access real-time assistance through the intuitive Brainfuse HelpNow online tutoring. Brainfuse HelpNow tutors are trained to not provide answers, but to help users master a problem’s underlying academic concept. Brainfuse HelpNow offers tutoring services in English and Spanish.

Available daily from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Grade K - Adult Learners

Virtual Writing Buddies

Children • Grades 2 - 5

Virtual Writing Buddies is a program sponsored by the Thousand Oaks Library matching attentive volunteers with students in grades 2- 5.

Volunteers work with students to engage them as writers by providing one-on-one or small-group, support. Intended for students who understand how to use basic parts of speech and form complete sentences. Participants must register and attend all four workshops.

Online Registration is required. Space is limited.

6 Weeks: Thursdays, June 24 - July 29, 2021

4:00 - 4:30 pm for a 30-minute Zoom session

Virtual Reading Buddies is a program sponsored by the Thousand Oaks Library matching attentive volunteers with students in grades 1- 4.

Volunteers work with students to help them improve their reading confidence and enjoyment.

Online Registration is required. Space is limited.

6 Weeks: Tuesdays & Wednesdays, June 22 - July 28, 2021

3:30 - 4:00 pm or 4:00 - 4:30 pm for a 30-minute Zoom session


Curbside by Appointment

Curbside by Appointment allows patrons to pick up library materials they placed on hold through the Library catalog or by phone. After receiving a Hold Pickup Notice, go to www.tolibrary.org/curbside to make an appointment or call 805-381-7355. Patrons will park in designated spots on the Children’s side of the library during their appointment-time. Staff will bring your materials out to you.
