What is 3D printing?

3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three-dimensional solid objects from a digital file.

How can I have something 3D printed?

The Library provides 3D printing to the public, subject to the Thousand Oaks Library 3D Printing Policy and Procedure.

Proposals for 3D printing are submitted through the 3D Printer Proposal Form.

What kind of 3D printers does the library have?

The Library uses a Lulzbot Taz 6, Lulzbot Mini and a Dremel Digilab 3D45 3D Printer.

What material is used to create the 3D objects?

The Library uses Polylactic acid (PLA) filament, a thermoplastic material made from renewable resources like corn and sugarcane

How can I  smooth my 3D-Printed Parts?

Sanding, bead blasting, and vapor smoothing are the most popular methods for achieving smooth plastic 3D-printed parts.  Read this article for more details.
