Checkout and Return Procedures
- Devices can only be checked out by an adult (18+) with a valid Thousand Oaks Library account in good standing.
- 3C-Ren Tool Kit is designated for a 2-week loan period and may be renewed.
- Devices must be checked out and returned to the Circulation Desk.
DO NOT RETURN 3C-REN COOKTOP KIT IN A BOOK DROP
All devices must be returned in-person before the Library closes on the date due.
3C-REN Do It Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit Policy and Waiver
The Tri-County Regional Energy Network (3C-REN) is a collaboration between San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties (Counties), established to deliver energy-saving programs and support efforts to achieve climate goals. Through its Home Energy Savings program, 3C-REN is making available the 3C-REN Do It Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit through local agencies (City of Thousand Oaks).
By checking out and taking possession of any item in the 3C-REN Do It Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit the patron agrees to this policy, as follows:
The 3C-REN Do It Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit equipment and supplies may be used only for lawful purposes. Patrons are prohibited from using the Toolkit equipment in any way that is:
- Prohibited by local, state or federal law.
- Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of self or others (such use may violate the terms of use of the manufacturer).
- In violation of another’s person’s property rights.
The Counties are not responsible for any damage to a patron’s property, or for any manufacturing defects of the provided equipment.
The Counties are not responsible for any injuries and/or other losses caused by use of 3C-REN Do It Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit equipment.
The patron agrees to read and follow all instructions provided in the Toolkit Guidebook. The patron understands and agrees that any devices or tools requiring installation in an electrical panel, or any other location where devices and tools will be installed online voltage (any voltage above 12v) must be installed by a licensed electrician.
The Counties reserves the right to deny access to 3C-REN Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit equipment if a patron violates any part of this policy, or misuses of the equipment as determined by the Counties.
Patrons are not responsible to pay charges or fees for damage or loss to toolkit equipment but may be held accountable for any damage via future access to Toolkits.
By checking out and taking possession of any item in the 3C-REN Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit, the patron is certifying that they are capable of using that item in a safe and proper manner.
By checking out and taking possession of any item in the 3C-REN Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit, patron voluntarily covenants not to sue the Counties and City of Thousand Oaks, and their respective successors, assigns, officers, agents, employees, and volunteers, and patron waives, releases, and discharges the Counties and City of Thousand Oaks from and against all claims, demands, damages, liabilities, loss, costs, and expenses arising out of or in any way related to or connected with borrowing and using 3C-REN Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit equipment, except such loss or damage which was caused by sole negligence or willful misconduct of the Counties or City of Thousand Oaks.
I also understand that failure to comply with the terms set forth by the Counties policies may result in revocation of my borrowing privileges and/or legal action against me.
By checking out the 3C-REN Do It Yourself (DIY) Home Energy Saving Toolkit I affirm that I agree to the above terms.
