Checkout and Return Procedures

1. Devices can only be checked out by an adult (18+) with a valid Thousand Oaks Library account in good standing.
2. 3C-Ren Induction Cooktop are designated for a 2-week loan period and can be renewed.
3. Devices must be checked out and returned to the Circulation Desk.

DO NOT RETURN 3C-REN COOKTOP KIT IN A BOOK DROP
All devices must be returned in-person before the Library closes on the date due.

3C-REN Induction Cooktop Policy and Waiver

The Tri-County Regional Energy Network (3C-REN) is a collaboration between Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties (Counties), established to deliver energy-saving programs and support efforts to achieve climate goals. Through its Home Energy Savings program, 3C-REN is making available the 3C-REN Induction Cooktop and supplies through local agencies (City of Thousand Oaks).

By checking out and taking possession of any item in the 3C-REN Induction Cooktop package the patron agrees to this policy, as follows:

The 3C-REN Induction Cooktop and supplies may be used only for lawful purposes. Patrons are prohibited from using the Induction Cooktop and supplies in any way that is:

• Prohibited by local, state, or federal law.
• Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of self or others (such use may violate the terms of use of the manufacturer).
• In violation of another person’s property rights.

The patron voluntarily assumes all risks associated with the patron’s use of the 3C-REN Induction cooktop and supplies. The Counties and City of Thousand Oaks are not responsible for any damage to a patron’s personal or real property, or for any manufacturing defects of the provided 3C-REN Induction Cooktop and supplies. The Counties and City of Thousand Oaks are not responsible for any injuries or death caused by use of 3C-REN Induction Cooktop and supplies.

The patron agrees to read and follow instructions for use provided with the 3C-REN Induction Cooktop and supplies. If the 3C-REN Induction Cooktop package does not contain instructions for use at time of Library check-out, the patron agrees to notify Library branch staff immediately so that the patron can be provided with a copy of mandatory instructions for use before the patron leaves Library premises.

The patron will ensure that the 3C-REN Induction Cooktop and supplies are only used by the patron signing this policy and waiver. The patron agrees to issue appropriate verbal warnings, and take all other necessary measures, so that any other person(s) present when the 3C-REN Cooktop is in use is/are not permitted to touch the 3C-REN Cooktop when hot.

The patron agrees to return the 3C-REN Induction Cooktop and supplies to the Library branch in clean condition.

The Counties reserves the right to deny access to 3C-REN Induction Cooktop and supplies if a patron violates any part of this policy, or misuses of the equipment as determined by the Counties.

Patrons are not responsible to pay charges or fees for damage or loss to equipment and supplies but may be held accountable for any damage via future access to the Induction Cooktops.

By checking out and taking possession of any item in the 3C-REN Induction Cooktop package, the patron is certifying that the patron is capable of using that item in a safe and proper manner.

By checking out and taking possession of any item in the 3C-REN Induction Cooktop package, patron voluntarily covenants not to sue the Counties and City of Thousand Oaks, and their respective successors, assigns, officers, agents, employees, and volunteers, and patron waives, releases, and discharges the Counties and City of Thousand Oaks from and against all claims, demands, damages, liabilities, loss, costs, and expenses arising out of or in any way related to or connected with borrowing and using 3C-REN Induction Cooktop and supplies.

I also understand that failure to comply with the terms set forth by the Counties policies may result in revocation of my borrowing privileges and/or legal action against me.

By checking out the 3C-REN Induction Cooktop, I affirm that I agree to the above terms.
