Voice of the Oaks (VOTO) is a Thousand Oaks Library podcast that alternates between three librarians chatting about books, libraries, and everything in between and interviews with members of the Thousand Oaks community. Episodes are available every 3 months. Our theme music, "Voice of the Oaks," was created by Ben Salin. The VOTO podcast can be listened to anywhere podcasts are found.

In this episode, the VOTO Team interviews Alan Salazar, a traditional storyteller, Indigenous educator, and a tribal Elder in both the Fernandeño Tataviam and Ventureño Chumash tribes. Join us as we discuss Alan's book, Tata, the Tataviam Towhee: A Tribal Story, where you can learn more about local tribes, and the importance of storytelling.
